CAGED joins the KNIFE HITS roster, announce debut full length

We’re super stoked to announce the addition of longtime friends and cohorts CAGED to the KNIFE HITS family. The five piece sludge doom band will release their debut full length, FROM ROVING ABOUT THE EARTH, September 29th (digital) + November 3rd (physical) via Translation Loss Records with KNIFE HITS handling the officially licensed limited cassette.

Philadelphia five piece CAGED debut full length release ‘From Roving About The Earth’ shows the band intertwining pitch-black sludge, tortured and charred vocals alongside cavernous and excruciating grooves. This five song release offers something similar to what you might hear if the pits of hell opened up and spewed its reign of chaos on earth. Laced with nightmarishly anxious sounds of savage distortion and experimental noise. Chaos is met with moments of meditative heaviness that force the listener up for air only to be dragged back down to hell once again. The album’s final track features guest artist, Alexander Cheskis of Philadelphia sludge band Sunburster, playing an additional fiercely soaring guitar solo on ‘A Stump of Eden’ that cuts through serpentining riffage like an ax.

Over a quick three days in March of 2022, the album was recorded at Backroom Studios in Rockaway, NJ by Scot Moriarty. The album then was sent to James Plotkins at Plotkinworks in Philadelphia, PA in the winter of 2023 for mastering. The album features brand new and original artwork by Mark McCoy.
